Make room
to focus.
A few answers to help you get started.
Add your first website
Open Pause from Chrome’s extensions menu or toolbar. Enter a website and choose +, then allow the requested website access. Open that website to begin a breathing pause.
Change a website’s limits
Click its row in the popup to expand settings. Choose the breathing duration and maximum visit length. After each breath, the slider lets you choose from one minute up to that maximum.
When does the next pause appear?
After Continue, your selected visit length starts a timer for that tab. If the tab remains on an eligible website when time expires, Pause returns it to the breathing screen. Chrome may delay timers, particularly after device sleep. Navigating to an unrelated website does not pull you back.
A site redirects somewhere else
Pause can recognize automatic redirects from a protected visit and show their exact destination hosts under Redirects covered. You can remove a learned destination. Some redirects are only recognized after navigation begins. If a destination is not learned, add its final domain directly to give it its own settings.
Settings are locked
Finish the open breathing pause, then choose Continue or Step away. The settings lock lasts through the visit chooser. Chrome’s own extension and tab controls remain available.
Report a problem
Include your Chrome version, Pause version, the affected website’s domain and the steps to reproduce it. Do not include private page URLs or account information. GitHub issues are public.
